Most headaches are harmless, but recurring ones deserve attention, and some warning signs need prompt medical care. This article is general information, not medical advice.

Track the pattern

Note when headaches happen, how long they last, what you were doing and what helped. A simple diary makes a doctor’s visit more useful.

When to get help quickly

Seek urgent care for a sudden, severe headache, a headache with fever and a stiff neck, confusion, weakness, vision changes or after a head injury.
