Decluttering without the guilt: a room-by-room approach

Start with the room you use most and decide by function, not sentiment.

Decluttering stalls when every object becomes a decision about memories. Deciding by function first makes the process faster and less emotional.

Start where you live

Begin with the room you use most. Remove what is broken, duplicated or unused for a year, then look at what is left.

Keep what earns its place

For sentimental items, keep a few that matter most and photograph the rest. A box with a date on it can hold undecided items until you know.
